With distinctive and sensitive brushstrokes, copper engravings of over 700 Northern European wild plants were copied, which Bayer took from the Flora-Danica encyclopedia. The long, labor-intensive process began in 1790 and was completed twelve years later, resulting in 1,802 different porcelain pieces. To this day, this renowned porcelain is shaped and painted by hand. Each individual piece is decorated with a unique and expressively designed plant – always complete with flower, leaves, stem, root, and fruit.
