Flora Danica is one of the most esteemed and most luxurious porcelain series in the world, still in production today. The famous porcelain painter Johann Christoph Bayer took on the monumental task of creating the Flora Danica service – a work that would become his life's masterpiece.

The origin of Flora Danica is truly royal. The service was commissioned by the Danish King Christian VII and was intended as a gift for Empress Catherine the Great of Russia, an enthusiastic collector of porcelain. She did not live to see its completion. The service thus remained in Denmark and was passed down through the royal house.
