Flora Danica was first used in 1803 for the king's wedding banquet. Since then, it has been used only on festive occasions, such as royal birthdays and weddings, as well as visits from foreign monarchs, banquets for the opening of the Supreme Court, and the appointment of knights. To this day, 1,503 pieces of the original service have been preserved and are used in the Danish royal house at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen whenever a festive occasion is celebrated.
